at home work attire

It's been a good week of posts on Offbeat home - here's one that totally applies to the grad student types - what do you wear when you work from home??

http://offbeathome.com/2011/05/a-freelancers-wardrobe

I'm a jeans (only those that are already on their way out) or carhartts with a t-shirt, hoody (or some other large and comfy sweater) and often a tuque (not always because i'm cold...sometimes i just like wearing a tuque) kindof girl.

What do you think...does dressing up increase at-home work productivity? Or do pajamas keep you comfy and therefore productive?

  1. I read this while working from home...in Lee's huge comfy flannel shirt. Hmmmm. Interesting.

  2. I almost hate to admit it, but even when I'm home I wear mascara. And I usually change out of pjs--otherwise it just makes me want to take a nap. :-)

  3. I mixed it up. Some days I stay in pajamas, some days I actually dress nicely...biologist nicely ...not office wear of course! Some days I don't wear a bra. Yesterday John had a friend come by and he asked whether I was decent before he let the guy come in! ha! If I need a boost to my motivation and productivity, then I dress better. Although sometimes showering is my main form of procrastination. It buys me at least 30 minutes before I have to bare sitting in front of the computer! Usually though, getting out of bed, grabbing a coffee and sitting straight in my office chair to start the day works pretty good. If I am lucky I take a break at some point to get dressed and might even venture out of the house to run an errand just to see what the world is up to.
