Cooking challenge - Week #1. Cheese.

Help!

Cooking in Uppsala has been a bit more of a challenge than usual - smaller fridge, fewer options at the grocery store (they don't even have real sriracha!), and a lack of recipe books and magazines means that I have fallen into a bit of a cooking funk. One can only make root vegetable stew so many times before her stomach and brain start mutiny-ing.

Soooo....how would everyone feel about weekly food projects?  A new theme every week, ranging from an ingredient to a style to a simple challenge such as "make something you've never made before". Anything goes.

This week: Make something that highlights cheese. Simply because it's easy to get everywhere, and we have an ABUNDANCE of it in the fridge.

Deadline to post: next Sunday, Dec. 23rd (oh my...I just realized it's close to Xmas, this is probably terrible timing). Regardless, I'll post another challenge next Sat.

Xoxoxo

  1. So do you mean we pick our own style/ingredient, or do we shout one out--Iron Chef style? Either way, sounds like fun!

  2. This is kind of a cute idea: http://www.delish.com/entertaining-ideas/holidays/christmas/twelve-days-christmas-recipes#slide-1

Although the multiple cookie slides are a bit of a cop out.

  3. I was thinking that each week we'd all work on the same project - so this week would be cheese (though I really like the Twelve days of Christmas theme. I am so up for working on multiple projects..the more food inspiration right now, the better!!!).

Anyone can choose the theme of the week, maybe the person who has the best post for the previous weekly challenge?

  4. Awesome. I love me some cheese so I'm looking forward to this project! I think I already know what I'm going to make. :-)

  5. Does eating copious amounts of cheese on crackers count as a contribution to week 1? If so I've nailed it! Good ol holiday eating!

  6. Whoa I have some catching up to do on this blog! I hope to get to this challenge soon, esp because we just came back from the east coast with a huge 3 lb block of Vermont Cheddar!! Cabot creamery makes this amazing white aged cheddar called "Hunter's Seriously Sharp." It is to die for. So I think we are well-equipped to tackle this challenge...
